Maioro Street is a busy Auckland transport corridor carrying high volumes of vehicles and public transport throughout the day. Auckland Transport needed a solution that could improve traffic flow, support bus priority, and respond to changing traffic demands without major road widening. The challenge was creating a safer, more flexible corridor that could adapt throughout the day while maintaining reliability and clear guidance for road users.

A Road That Adapts

CSL delivered a Dynamic Lane solution that enables the road layout to change in response to traffic demand. The project included the installation and integration of intelligent lane control systems, LED road studs, lane management technology, and automated control sequences. A dynamic central lane can open, close, or change function depending on traffic conditions, while dedicated bus lane operations support public transport during off-peak periods. The system was designed with built-in safety protocols and redundancy to ensure reliable operation under all conditions.

The completed system provides a more responsive approach to managing one of Auckland's busy transport corridors. Traffic movements can now be adjusted throughout the day to better match demand, helping improve network efficiency and reduce congestion.
