Challenge

A Station That Never Stands Still

Britomart is Auckland's busiest transport interchange - a central hub where thousands of commuters, trains, buses and pedestrians converge every day. Auckland Transport needed an integrated infrastructure solution that could deliver reliable, real-time passenger information across the entire station environment, while maintaining safety and security across both interior and exterior spaces. The challenge was designing and installing systems that would be seamlessly embedded into a complex, always-on environment - without disruption to daily operations.

CSL Solution

Every Layer of the Station, Connected

CSL designed, supplied and installed the full passenger information and safety infrastructure at Britomart. At the heart of the project is the station's hero display - two large-format interior variable message signs delivering live timetables to thousands of commuters daily. Complementing these are passenger information displays along the concourse, exterior canopy VMS boards on Commerce Street, and bespoke CSL- cased CCTV units across CPO Square and Galway Street. EDNE Emergency Do Not Enter signs and help phones complete an integrated system designed to keep people informed, safe, and moving.

Outcome

A Connected Hub at the Heart of Auckland

Britomart now operates with a fully integrated passenger information and safety ecosystem - one that works across every layer of the station, from the foyer to the street. Real-time timetable information reaches commuters the moment they enter the space, while CCTV and emergency systems provide continuous safety coverage around the clock. The project demonstrates CSL's ability to deliver complex, multi- system ITS installations in high-footfall public environments, and to do it with precision, without interrupting the city & daily rhythm.
